Now You Don’t Have to Part II

Colmar, Alsace
Spread the love

This year during my “pilgrimage ” to Europe , I decided to visit 2 places as a follow-up to my above article.

The first one is the real Colmar, after which Colmar Tropicale concept was adopted from . Although this is a small town, remember to get yourself a pair of good and comfortable sneakers to explore and be good to your feet. Do you know that , the designer for Statue of Liberty , the one you see In New York hailed from Colmar. He is none other than Mr. Bartholdi. In memory of him , there is a replica of it here in Colmar. While there are triangular shape sign on the cobbled walkway leading you to it in the north of the city, it was too far to walk there. I therefore did not see it. Travelling in Europe in summer is good as the days starts brighten up as early as 6am until 6pm.

I was excited that there is a “Little Venice” (Le Petite Venise” here in Colmar. I went to Venice, Italy many years ago and Venice is one which is definitely worth visiting. It is so different from the rest. And as to bring the ambience of romance to Colmar, this “Little Venice” is lined with restaurants and cafes where you can eat, drink and chit chat with your other half or halves(just joking) , and friends, too.

I spend only one night here and there are so many museums here considering the old , historical town it is . And I just love visiting museums here in Europe , especially when I visit Europe in winter and it is cold outside. But here is summer time and you really can see much more. So if you only have limited time and love museum , the one and only one you really need to see is Unterlinden Museum. Lucky enough this museum is just behind the hotel I am staying in .

Colmar is a town in the Grand East region of northeastern France, near the border with Germany. Its old town has cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings. The Gothic 13th-century, Saint-Martin church stands on central Place de la Cathédrale. There is no flight there and therefore you either go there by bus or train .I took  the night train back to Munich and sleep in the train (something I had not done for years)

So which is the next city I will visit , follow this site to keep updated.
